Heat; Single From Flame Review
Heat is a reimagining of the acoustically recorded version, with the same title, from Flame’s previous EP, Pride of the Lamb. It now leans heavily into the shoegaze-grunge sound present in Naïve, the other track from the latest EP, creating an ethereally deep soundscape. The vocals, while remaining beautifully delicate, are now set against a heavily distorted instrumental background and contain an anger and strength not found in the previous recording.

The track begins feeling as if it is walking through our minds as the lyrics search for a missing spark. The sound builds and crescendos, replicating a fire gaining strength, as the lyrics become more desperate, ending with frustration shown in the repetition of both lyrics and sound. This duality of storytelling is the absolute highlight of the track.
Heat showcases Flame’s growth and leaves us excitingly awaiting the rest of Medea in Blue.
